The reason spring break is so appealing is because it gets so wild. Spring break parties often last all night, all day and all night again. These parties can be found in locations all across the United States as well as in exotic locations. Keep in mind that these parties are all about crazy, fun times.
Where to Go for Wild Spring Break Parties
Get out of town and head to one of these popular party places.
Florida Destinations
It used to be that if you were looking for a crazy party, you would travel to one of the major spring break cities in Florida. Hot destinations in Florida are:
- Fort Lauderdale
- Daytona Beach
- Panama City
These cities are not the end all, be all destinations they used to be, but East Coast kids especially still head to the Sunshine State for spring break fun. They keep coming back to these places because they offer fun on a budget, perfect for student bank accounts.
Florida's stronghold on wild spring break parties still exist, but many are discovering that you can also find unforgettable celebrations from California to the Jersey Shore - not to mention destinations outside of the United States.
Lake Havasu, Arizona
Lake Havasu is situated on the border of California and Arizona. If you live in a cold-weather state and are looking for a spring break that involves warm weather, boats and water, Lake Havasu is the place to be. Party-goers begin the day by launching their boats at The Channel and heading out to Copper Canyon. Upon arriving at Copper Canyon, partiers tie up their boats as far as the eye can see, creating a floating party.
At Lake Havasu, the party doesn't stop for spring breakers once the sun goes down. Although the town of Havasu City is small, it has plenty of night-time activities to keep party-goers happy.
South Padre Island, Texas
South Padre Island is an old stand-by for wild spring spring break parties. This little island off the southern coast of Texas is dubbed the "Two Nation Vacation" because the Mexican border is just over the bridge. While staying in South Padre, party at Louie's Backyard and catch a live show or the nightly Miss Hawaiian Tropic bikini contest.
Cancun and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Mexico has become an increasingly popular party spot for college kids looking for a good time, especially the resort towns of Cancun and Cabo San Lucas. You can check out a spring break package deal, which offers travel, accommodation at a spring break-friendly hotel and activities like booze cruises and beach parties, all for one price. About 300,000 U.S. college students go this route every year, so you are bound to be in good company.
The Cancun nightlife has a bit of everything to please any partier. Check out the famed La Boom, Dady'O or Coco Bongo if disco is your thing. Don't worry about getting to the bar in time, most don't close until five in the morning. Remember to bring your passport and valid identification.
Cabo San Lucas is all about having a good time with its main strip of four square blocks packed with bars and nightlife. Visit spots such as Hard Rock Cafe, Squid Roe, Cabo Wabo, Carlos N Charlie's and The Giggling Marlin.
South Beach, Miami, Florida
South Beach is one of those places where Hollywood celebrities come to play. There are way too many clubs and bars in this ultra-hip ocean side destination to list them all, but here are a choice few:
In South Beach, the party spills from the clubs to the streets and literally goes all night. One down-side, though, is that some of the more trendy clubs require tickets to get in.
Spring Break Cruises

Spring break cruises to the Bahamas and other tropical destinations have become a favorite way to take the partying to the high seas. Though these cruises aren't specifically tailored to college-aged fun seekers, according to the operator, during March and April around 90% of the passengers are college students. The draw here? Isn't it obvious - cruise out far enough and the drinking age becomes a college-friendly 18!
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Trips to Myrtle Beach on the infamous "Beach Weekend" are a rite of passage for high school seniors in the south, and many southern college kids continue the tradition during their college years. This so called "Redneck Riviera" destination seems like it was built with springtime revelers in mind, and even though the popular amusement park has shut its doors, you are guaranteed to find all of the partying you could want in this little South Carolina town.
Party Smart
Spring break is all about the party, but that doesn't mean you can't be cautious and smart. When making your way through the crowds, keep in mind to stay close to your friends and have a meeting spot in case you get separated. Your passport is a must if traveling out of the country so make sure you get one early and keep it with you or in a safe spot.
Spring break is a great time to party with your friends. Grab your bathing suit, your plastic cups, your mp3 player and your stamina, and head to where you're sure to find a college-friendly party in full swing.
